We made it to the zoo & 5 for Saturday!

After waiting for two whole weeks the first grade finally made it to the zoo! Our original zoo date was canceled because of bad weather ( or so we thought )! The weather yesterday was beyond perfect and the animals were out! Here are a few pictures that I snapped of a few animals!

I snapped so many cute pictures of my kids but I can't show them to you so here is a picture of me with my first grade team!! I love them so much! It is hard to believe my first year with them is about over. We have two of them that will be leaving next year and I am going to miss them so much! They have really taken me under their wing and helped me through my first year!

So I am going to count all of that above as 2 things for the 5 for (Friday)... Saturday!

Next... I met my new JH cheerleaders this week and we did our tryouts as well! Can I tell you that I have an awesome squad?!! They're so funny & will be so much fun!

I'm a happy, happy coach!

In the classroom this week it was a little disorganized due to all of the end of the year festivities & our field day was canceled because of weather...
We did a lot of activities with stories and a lot of writing and memory books! :)

Our memory books are the paper bag pocket memory books. I created my own little template for my kiddos. They love them!

Also... in the classroom we did the Busy Bodies unit from Babbling Amy!

We did the bubble gum data analysis activity in this packet and the kids loved it! It was a great way to review graphing and data analysis one last time before they are officially second graders!

I also got a cute little gift from one of my students on Thursday! My favorite part of the gift is the note he wrote for me on the bag. :)

That is all I have to share for now! :) Have a great weekend!

Thanks to Doodle Bugs for letting me link up!

  1. Yay for finally getting to the zoo! Was it the Toledo Zoo? Looks familiar....I grew up outside of Toledo. Great zoo!! We used bubblegum for how-to writing and several kiddos wrote it as their favorite event in their memory books! So fun! Hope you're off to a great weekend!

    1. Yes, that was the Toledo Zoo! Small world! I wanted to do the how-to writing activity but didn't have time for the writing. I am thinking about doing in on the last day for something fun/simple.

  3. I had to laugh, that elephant's expression and body position resembles mine at this time of year! Hahaha! Our first grade went to the zoo too and had a blast! I'm glad to hear that your first year was good. I'm sure your enthusiasm was contagious for your team mates! It just gets better and better. We have the best job in the world, don't you think?!

    1. Yes, it really is the best job in the world! I LOVE it. I was talking to a parent on the zoo trip and she asked me overall how I liked teaching and I looked at her and told her, "I seriously love it & could never imagine doing anything else." I can't wait for next year! :)...need to get some stuff ready first! ;) I hope you have a great summer!!

  8. Saw you blog from Farley's Currently. I love discovering blogs I didn't know about. I enjoyed yours and your enthusiasm. I'm interested in your paper bag memory book. What did you put in the pockets? I love making paper bag scrapbooks.

    1. In the pockets I would have the kids write a little blurb about the topic that was on the outside of the pocket (Ex: Kids would draw a picture of their class on the outside and then on the inside I had them finish the prompt, "I will miss my class because..." I just did little stuff like that and customized it to what they liked. It was so easy to do! I'm glad you found my blog!
