RTI Obsession!! = My Night!

Since the time I got home from school today it has been all about getting my guided reading groups together, Sight word and short vowel RTI -- Searching for Fluency RTI items! Well.. I got it! I created something simple for parents to help me out in the classroom when it comes to sight words & I found an awesome RTI Fluency packet on nothing other than ---TPT with Jen Jones! Hollerrrr (yah.. that doesn't come natural)!! ::)

Anyway I am going to share my RTI sight word stuff with you tonight and show you the stuff I got to get myself started with some Progress Monitoring! It's a short one tonight!

I began my night with dragging out all of my assessment data to group my students for GUIDED READING!! Yayy!!

Then, I went through each group and tried to write down target goals I have for the groups.
We use STAR Early Literacy so it was pretty easy to do but I just needed to find a starting point.

My lower groups will be working on segmenting CVC words and then blends with short vowels.
My two medial groups with be working on reviewing CVC words/Blends and then introducing the MAGIC E. We will also be working on developing a purpose for reading and expanding vocabulary.
My upper group will be working on developing a purpose for reading as well as answering questions about a text they are reading. I am going to meet with this 2x a week for the first 2-3 months then we will go down to one day a week because they can already read chapter books and I will just be checking in with them on a weekly basis after we get going.

More posts about guided reading to come... (NOT a geru here... I am just reading A LOT on this stuff and trying to get it down & of course wanting to share with you)

Now, progress monitoring.

I bought this...

If you teach 1st or 2nd grade and you have no resources for a consistent RTI process then this IS the way to go! I am in love with this product. If you want to check it out then click below.
Jen Jones is MMMMazing!

Then this is what I made for our sight words this year! I will be having my parent volunteers do this with students. I will be checking student sight words on my own on a regular basis. This is a practice activity for parents to complete with my students and to have more... you know that magical word... DATA!

Click on the picture to head to google docs to grab it up!
It's nothing to fancy but it'll get the job done!

I hope you can use it!

Stay tuned for more!

  1. Thanks! We are in the process of doing our benchmarking now and I can't wait to have it done so I can get my kids grouped and get started!
